Welcome to School Bag: Parent and Carer Survey Results Published
The Scottish Assembly of Parents and Carers has today published the findings from our engagement on the proposed Welcome to School Bag.
A total of 92 parents and carers completed our survey, alongside two online focus groups, providing a wide range of experiences, perspectives and suggestions.
Parent and carer members shared mixed views on the proposal. While many recognised the intention behind supporting families at the start of Primary 1, there were also strong messages about the importance of ensuring any investment delivers the greatest benefit for children and families. Members highlighted issues including choice, inclusion, sustainability, transition support, additional support needs, communication with families and wider priorities across education.
The complete report has also been shared with the Scottish Government policy team to inform their ongoing work.
We are grateful to every parent and carer member who took the time to contribute. Your experience and thoughtful feedback continue to play an important role in ensuring the voices of families are heard in national education policy.
