Scottish Assembly of Parents and Carers – Engagement Process

Purpose of the Assembly:

The Assembly aims to brings together parents and carers to provide valuable insights and feedback on education policies. By actively participating, you will help shape decisions that impact our children’s education and contribute to creating a better educational environment.

Over the coming year, we will be capturing your views and insights. As well as sending you online surveys, we will also invite members to join smaller panels or groups to work on specific areas of interest. Our engagement process is designed to ensure a diverse and representative Assembly.

Here is a quick overview of the process:

About the Engagement Pool process:

If you are selected for a specific topic for discussion, you’ll receive an invite to take part in your preferred way. You’ll be working alongside other dedicated parents and carers to provide valuable feedback and insights. After completing the piece of work, you’ll move back into the engagement pool, ready to be selected for new topics based on your interests and expertise. This cycle ensures that everyone’s contributions are valued and that you can engage with a variety of topics over time.

Invitations to Pieces of Work:

Throughout your involvement, you will receive invitations to participate in specific, smaller pieces of work, including surveys or groups discussions. Each invitation will outline the requirements and expected timelines, ensuring you have all the information needed to contribute effectively. Some surveys may also be discussed with the entire Assembly to gather comprehensive feedback. We have already asked for your communication preferences and know how you want to take part, so we will consult with you in your preferred way.

Creating the Workplan:

The workplan will be created using a combination of the topics chosen from the applications and allow time in the agenda to respond to any emerging issues identified by the Scottish Government. By continuously updating the workplan, we can address both planned and unforeseen issues effectively, allowing for a dynamic and responsive approach to our work. We will present the plans to the Assembly through an event early next year.
