Education (Scotland) Bill is passed by the Scottish Parliament
The Education (Scotland) Bill was passed by the Scottish Parliament on 25 June 2025. Read more here.
The Bill will:
- Replace the Scottish Qualifications Authority with a new body, Qualifications Scotland
- Create an independent Inspectorate of Education
- Strengthen how qualifications are designed, reviewed and overseen.
The Scottish Government has confirmed that parents and carers will have a voice in the governance of Qualifications Scotland - something our Assembly members strongly advocated for. In our report on education reform, 84% of our parents and carers said family engagement MUST be built into how new education bodies are run. There's still work ahead and the Assembly will continue to follow this closely and ensure parent and carers' voices stay part of the conversation.
