Cabinet Secretary sets out education priorities
Màiri McAllan MSP, Cabinet Secretary for Education, Culture and Gaelic, has written to partners setting out the Scottish Government’s priorities for education over the new parliamentary term.
The letter outlines a focus on attainment, attendance, behaviour and curriculum, alongside priorities including Additional Support for Learning, mobile phones in schools, curriculum reform and greater empowerment for schools and headteachers.
Importantly, the Cabinet Secretary highlights the role of parents, carers and families and the need for partnership as this work moves forward.
The Scottish Assembly of Parents and Carers will be working with the Scottish Government over the coming months to bring parent and carer voices into a number of these priorities, including the development of the National Staged Intervention Model, proposals around mobile phones in schools, and school and headteacher empowerment.
